Before we get started there are a few things you should know about me… I’m sarcastic, introspective, I crave simplicity, swear too much and I give great hugs. As a working mother of two, I survive on coffee, tacos (ALL. The. Tacos!) and all things sweet. My passions include reading, writing, gardening, and cooking – all of which you’ll find here.
A Seed For Your Soul is the creation of a worn out mom trying to find the purpose of life. For as long as I can remember I have been living with a destination in mind. “When I buy that house / When I make a certain amount of money / When I have those kids / When I own that thing / When I turn that age… then I’ll be happy / fulfilled / complete / etc.” But that feeling never came. I got that house, I had those kids, I bought that thing (you know, that one), and I turned that age, but I never felt complete, never fully happy. Don’t get me wrong, I have had TONS of happy moments in my life, but if you ask me if I’m happy, I’m more likely to respond that I’m fine / content / okay.
So, I started searching for answers. What IS the purpose of life? What the hell are we supposed to be doing here with this one precious life? (Have you ever googled, what is the purpose of life? Yeah, me neither.) As a non-religious person, this is incredibly challenging and daunting. However, while I was searching, I started sensing this recurring idea that maybe our purpose doesn’t have to be some grand gesture, that maybe our purpose is in the everyday moments… Maybe I don’t have to create the cure for cancer, or win a Nobel Peace Prize, or invent something that will change everyone’s life… Maybe I just need to show up and be authentic to my heart and find the joy in every day. To be present in the life I created and focus on feeding my soul instead.
Presence is not easy for me, but I want to try harder. My hope is that A Seed For The Soul will be a place that holds me accountable, where I can document the joys in my life – big or small, a place to speak my truth and learn from others, to be creative and most importantly – to feed my soul.
I’m grateful you’re here! Let’s grow together!
A soul is not required for a robot. Or for a machine. Or for a set of ideas or theories. But a soul is profoundly necessary for a human. It’s from our souls that we love, that we feel, that we create, that we connect.
